In the case of Japan, homogeneity (whether real or perceived) lends itself to comparison with other populations as a whole but does not necessarily reflect the actual reality of each situation.

The sink was from Habitat ($75), the wood was leftover from a butcher block counter, fabric from Walmart, shells and mirror courtesy of my MIL and a beach in Mexico.

@Travis HouckYour mental block preventing you from believing you will raise funds is probably "the current Reality setting in".Raising  funds without understanding the deal, or knowing how to accurately run the numbers on a property (when you don't have a circle of friends and family with large amounts of cash) is probably a long shot.

The reality is that if you buy a property and fix everything at the beginning and screen your tenants properly, you won't be receiving many calls and hopefully won't have to chase many tenants for rents.
