In my market, they asses a 25-35k at a value of 70-75k, in an effort to drive up the tax base to pay their nice fat pensions.

If you really like the place, it could give you a nice equity position later on, but its not going to make you wealthy.Strictly as an investment, it appears to be more trouble than its worth.

It would be located in California, and i found a nice duplex for around $350K.
