Are there any other alternatives that I can use to run credit reports besides smartMove?

The owner of the house is requesting to see that report.

Not sure about screening, but you can get background reports run. 

I can only speak for commercial/private lending companies, but typically, any form of bankruptcies reported on credit in the last 36 months prevents you from being approved.However, conventional can be completely different.

If the town has ordinance against it someone might report it (tenant when you tell them to leave, neighbor, ...)
