As I was making progress, the time I was putting towards my RE endeavor became dearer than my hourly job rate - so I asked for a raise knowing it'll be better off for them to keep me at the company yet I was prepared to be fired.Bottom line, it really depends on the culture of your company and the people you're working with; I got referrals, referred peers to my realtor, got a (60%) raise, and even a request for a future JV.

It seems to me either the government should get out of the loan business for English, History, and basket weaving students and let and the lenders deal with these borrowers at their own risk and face the possibility of actual student default, and bankruptcy protection, or qualify these taxpayer backed, non-defaultable loans by insuring the quality of the academic endeavor (sic STEM).

I think you have other issues at hand that need dealing with before you attempt a career in real estate, because real estate will be harder than your real job and you'll deal with personalities and situations similar or worse than your current job, especially at first until you accumulate some experience.
