Should I look for an internship to learn more about the flipping or investing industry, or would it be beneficial to use my license and work as a buyer/seller agent under a family friend's brokerage?

That may or may not work.If it doesn't work then think if it was you, what would it take you to leave. 

Does anyone have experience working with these guys? 

One challenge I found is balancing the work/life balance in the house.

Again though, I like that they have so many resources, checks, and balances at their disposal to get us through the deal smoothly.  

BiggerPockets meetups, local REI clubs, or even connecting with investors through social media can give you a firsthand look at what’s working in the market.Start with a Solid Deal: It’s easy to get excited and jump into the first deal that comes your way, but patience is key.

You don’t have to work with that buyer in the future, but at this point you are out of the picture from what you wrote.
