I made a few connections and I am interested to hear from the community.I know the main goal is to network and learn but If you have attended a REI before what are some specific goals you try to achieve when attending a REI? 

I think it may be easier to help you if you told us your goals - are you looking for single family homes or multis?

My goal when I bought the house was to be a buy and hold investor, with the goal to pay off the mortgage.

Lol.... but just focus on your goal.

My long term goal would be to own rentals for passive income.

However, that will change soon.I currently have one SFR in South Africa which is going along quite nicely but I don't know how beneficial it will be to my San Diego goals because of fees, taxes, currency conversion etc.

Yes this site is for sure a resource and also wonderful for networking with other like minded individuals to help you get your real estate goals.

I have no plans to leave my career anytime soon.If there's anything I've learned it's to set goals (unreachable ones at that), be prepared & educated, and get started (which is by far the hardest part of this journey for me).

Anecdotally, I've heard that local Facebook marketplace groups are an increasingly successful channel.
