A lady reached out to me who runs an organization affiliated with Notre Dame which sponsors grad school teachers to teach at a school in Pensacola.

In addition to simply replacing the interior, the mansion was modernized, walls and floors reconstructed, the third floor expanded, two basement levels added, and a major expansion of underground spaces for centralized air-conditioning and other services.

Plus, none of them consider the popular multi-generational style living -that is the future. lolI love the style of modern cement homes like in Merida, Mexico for example and many other parts of the world.

Where this gets interesting... is the addition built to modern building codes? 

Then, I would paint the wood paneling and the mantel light gray to modernize the space.

These more modern platforms tend to be a bit more user friendly as well.

In some cases, older construction, particularly stone foundations, are better in many ways the more modern construction (especially block foundations, and while stone foundations usually take on some water, they don't move as easily as poured concrete in my experience).
