Not even 100% sure what I am looking for but trying my best to be active, network, and become familiar with my surrounding market.1) Found a list of local REI clubs to attend2) Driving around and getting as much literature and history on surrounding properties in my area3) Combing through craigslist to see what people are buying, selling, and the services they are offering4) Reading articles on BP, Zillow, and hard copy books that I have purchased5) Finding seminars to attend when they come to my areaAgain any tips, contacts, suggested reading, etc would be very much appreciated.

The 'meet' feature is awesome, I really would like to meet up with local REI so that I can make better decisions by bouncing ideas off people familiar with my area and with more experience under their belt.

I can obviously get quotes from contractors and do my due diligence in terms of estimating the repairs, but not familiar enough with home renovations to know what could turn a $500 job into a $5,000 job.
