Nothing wrong with being licensed I'm contemplating getting mine.  

I am a licensed master electrician, I work for a contractor (great pay, benefits, work truck, etc..) but also own a fully licensed and insured electrical contracting company I basically have just set up (been open 3 years) but no time to do anything with because I am constantly working on both houses.  

Will be getting my real estate license as well as friends have shared favorable information.

Bear in mind that what bites many licensees in the butt is that their letters often end up in the hands of other agents and brokers....who then look you up, find that you're licensed and wonder why the hell you're contacting their clients.I've seen it happen in Austin more than anywhere else in the U.S.

Also, I'm currently studying to get my real estate license, which I believe will help in all aspects of real estate investing. 

My wife has just earned her RE license and will be interviewing brokers next week.

James Wise in my state, it takes 3 years of experience to obtain a broker license, as soon as I do that, I'm leaving my firm for a couple of reasons.1.

I had a realtors licenses in Kansas, briefly, that I got for fun while in law school. 

I'm not saying this because I am a licensed Realtor.

I am currently taking classes to get my Nevada Real Estate license to start my RE investing company.
