As for detailed analysis, you'll need to do more research in whatever particular area you are interested in.I also liked the "Property Managment for Dummies".

I would also have a check out list that is room specific--make them know what details you want looked at--we got back a new refrigerator with two cracked crisper baskets ($56 each) because the manager just opened the frig to see if it was clean, but did not see what we did--I made them charge the tenant for both to be replaced.

I'm not sure if short and simple or specific and detailed is the way to go, for my letters to absentees.What do you think is most effective?

You can get as detailed as you want with the the list from the title company.For example you can say I want a list of Pre-Forecloures that will be foreclosing all within the next three weeks, 60% below LTV, all in Kansas City, AL etc...
