In addition to prohibiting discrimination based on the previously listed criteria, state law also prohibits housing discrimination based on marital status, sexual orientation, age (18+), gender identity or expression and being a victim of domestic abuse.

You wouldn't want a hoarder, a perpetrator of domestic violence or a drug dealer occupying the property.I personally make all those over 18 be on the lease, but that is my business model and you need to do what is right for you.

I got a call from a woman who says she and her boyfriend are having a very difficult time finding a rental property because when he was 19 (in 2001) he had a domestic violence conviction, which she said is a "withheld adjudication".I would not normally consider anyone with a criminal history, and when I contacted the condo association for my property (they also do a background check and would have to approve the tenants), they said this issue from 2001 is not a concern for them.I haven't seen their application yet, as I'm not sure if I should even let them view the property.
