Originally, I lived in the main portion of this house and rented the mother-in-law suite (primary bedroom) separately on Airbnb.

I live in NY and was looking in Detroit, MI, Cleveland, OH and Philadelphia, PA areas.

We are currently living in a home that my parent's paid for in cash.

I am finding conflicting information about whether or not this is allowed in Jacksonville, Florida.I've found info stating that the owner must live in one unit and rent the other, or must rent both units to the same tenant, and the two units cannot be rented separately to two different tenants.

Father lives out of state.

There's always a certain number of "don't give a sh**" people out there who are looking for easy places to live where they won't be hassled to pick up their trash, mind the noise, etc.

Traditional mortgage, HOA does not allow immediate rental (need to live in it for 2 years), and so I did but with the intent of renting it in the future.

I’ve been interested in getting started in airbnb, but with all the information available online I’ve fallen victim to analysis paralysis.I’m open to hear others thoughts on what they would do if in my position. p.s.I live in Michigan 

Buy a duplex or more, live in one, rent the other.

While doing so I will have to live in the property for however long that takes as well.
