The unit was almost done save for the bathroom and kitchen, and at that point it was mostly done.I wanted to see if we could move the shower, as it was connected to a claw foot tub and attached to the side of the wall that has a ceiling height of approx 4.5 feet.

My thinking is that this process will get my foot in the door and through the process I will gain some formal education about real estate.

I did one of these houses in 2006 - cut out the subfloor and drywall (about one foot near the floor) and replaced.

$/square foot and square footage is lower, so purchase price and repair costs are lower.

Could anyone help estimate a ball-park number to turn part of an unfinished basement into a 700 square foot apartment (either a large 1-BR or small 2-BR, one bathroom)?  

We worked on a project where we were purchasing a lot to build a 30,000 square foot commercial building. 

For our metal roof installs, we strip the entire roof every 2 foot with regular pine 2x4's horizontally screwed into the rafters and on the edges vertically with treated 2x4's.

I'm okay with that, as I'm more focused on getting my foot in the door.
