Other than area rugs or carpeting I don't see any cost effective way to reduce the pet noise.

Paint and carpet, never get far enough for you and I to see them.

The market is very hot right now, I just bid on a house in Cranston that I mayyybe could have stretched to $120k but I bid $110k, needs roof, siding all carpets/floors need to be replaced, paint, mold in the basement, etc.  

(They're basically identical except some carpeting could be replaced on one side.

I'll do the paint myself, and I'm doing more carpet than I would if I were living there.
