We've gotten in the habit of going to a showing for every other apartment on the street that comes up for rent or sale, just to try and keep our property in perspective. 

Other properties on the street are old Victorian homes selling for $120k.

Habitat for Humanity is going to build about nine houses in the area, they have already have built one house in the area it is across the street from the one that I am think about getting. 

If I could earn 8% ROI plus 4% in appreciation by investing in real estate right down the street without having to rehab, that might be another matter.

Davenport values are all over the place and it can vary wildly from subdivision to subdivision, even street to street in Davenport proper.Does the house need work?
