Got burned by a contractor but ended up finding another that is now my current business partner

I've seen investors make significant upgrades and not get burned and go on their merry way.However I can also say that in many cases the neighbors know...and know the people who used to live there. 

In almost every instance - as with the couple in question who were in this house for seven years - we've been burned for that kindness, and it can get very demoralizing, especially with a legal system that's so heavily biased against landlords.

A lot of landlords have been burned.

This is the part where you have to burn both ends of the candle so you can go FI in 5-10 years.

I've got something to say, it's better to burn out than fade away.

House burned down recently fully; lot cleared.Is asking round same price now for just the lot, says insurance reimbursed for replacement, but hasn't answered  how much was the replacement cost, which is needed for the rebuild paperwork as planning dept only permit similar replacement.What else should I require in the offer, or just walk? 

Even if the properties burned down we have so much insurance that we would probably make out on the deals (that's obviously not something we want though!!). 

Im not seeing anying go for under asking price or even asking price (unless the place has burned to the ground & the ask is just for land.2.
