The biggest takeaway that I found is that you need to start implementing policies and procedures into your business now to make these types of (unavoidable) situations easier to deal with in the future.

If it comes back to you, just keep it unopened.But, if you don't do it, they usually have a year under the statute of limitations to sue you for not following the procedure correctly.

I'm not judging them for not having dental insurance, I'm just saying if you are from San Francisco you will have huge culture shock just driving 4 - 6 hours north.When I was in Crescent City, that was during the 2016 election and there were literally huge altars to Trump, too - giant wooden structures with huge decorated Trump signs/banners, etc.
