I bought a house in a Lennar subdivision to turn it into a rental the following year. 

Biggest expenses are housing (and once your house is paid off those costs go down) and cars (again how often do you buy a new (or new to you) car.

Finally closed on my house in Jacksonville, Fl.I ended up giving Power of Attorney to my brother and having him sign for me.I would advise others to have their POA setup prior to leaving the US as I had to go to the US Embassy in Bangkok to have the POA papers notarized.  

If I buy a house hack that needs work that is projected to take 8-9 months and can't reside in the house until it is completed or can only be there between jobs can I still claim it as a primary residence?
