Currently I like the idea of having long term rentals for my future, but I really enjoy managing my place and think that I would enjoy doing property management as I would get to help others make money and help find a home for future residents.

We have an 8 bed 6 bath home in Houston that we renovated.

We feel like this gives us a pretty good background to start, but by no means do we think we know everything we need to yet.The area around UCF has improved quite a bit in the last 10 years and home prices have risen considerably, but it seems like there are still some promising areas to find deals.

I currently have a small portfolio but they are single family homes. 

Our highest bidder, a downtown-based construction GC business, could not tell us what grade of lumber was quoted, would not share what brand of garage doors they used ("local vendors"), would not identify their steel beam and column supplier or water service vendor.

I guess it always seems like they don't want to make low offers on my behalf or after you walk a few homes that don't work out they check out. 🤷  

Begin with small, easy-to-manage homes like single ones or two-family homes, or try house hacking to help pay your mortgage.

I don't own my own home, so even the home buying process is new to me.

The home has a basement, which, with some work, can be a 2 bedroom one bathroom unit.
