I've saved a lot of cash by doing it myself over the years, but often, at the end of the day, what I saved was less than the rent income or carrying costs I incurred.I still have rentals in Madison county (Harvest-Toney- HSV Sec. 8) so feel free to keep me posted on how your new project develops.

Developing skills on finding deals and understanding the numbers.

Flipping houses and owning a painting business can actually complement each other very well, in terms of cross-selling services, developing connections, and new opportunities among other things.I guess my point is, before leaving an existing venture, make sure you have formally done your diligence via a business model, business plan, marketing strategy, etc.  

I'm still deciding because I hear a lot of cases where a lot of people break even with real estate and don't any money through rentals.I might add that a duplex around here is right about 300k if I want something nice or 150 for a fixer upper.

It is nice to have a site, but having one that generates leads takes good planning, probably good SEO, marketing, and a good URL that will help you rank.
