When it comes down to it, sponsors usually require compensation in one of two ways: 1️⃣Compensation regardless of performance – encourages operators to just do more deals2️⃣Performance-based compensation, another name for a “promote” or carried interest – feels more aligned, but also may encourage risk-takingThere are pros and cons to both types.

I currently live with my parents and am looking into getting my first duplex/triplex in the central Connecticut area, as I do not know where my next promotion to a Branch Manager will be yet (I want to make sure I buy somewhere that won't make my commute completely miserable time-wise). 

I would try to find a brokerage that promotes the investing and entrepreneurial side of real estate.

Some things I would consider:- Weather- Job prospects- Housing market and cost of living- Culture and diversity- Whether the market supports real estate investing (ex: it's difficult in San Francisco or Seattle)If you provide some more context on what you like/dislike I'm think it might be easier to hop in with an opinionated answer!

However you cannot directly advertise or promote yourself in the main forums.
