I would expect to be side-by-side with them, learning the "in's and out's" of their routine. 

I am retired on disability and just want to find a quiet place for my husband and I to live out our lives.

The property is 30-45 min away, so we need to build into our expenses at the very least a handy man and a maintenance man for emergencies and then routine lawn care and the like. 

This small bit of money is all I have to get going,  I am disabled and desparately want to get out of the  "under $25k"  economic prison cell.

Houses routinely sell for under 100k and will cash flow decently as the rents usually go for $600-$1000 or so depending on the state/city/neighborhood.

As far as income is concerned, I receive VA disability payments that are about $1800 a month.

My goal is to build enough residual income off of real estate in order to supplement the $3,000 a month I'll get from my disability check every month.
