I grew up in Conroe/The Woodlands not far from Spring - always happy to have a Texas native on the forum :) Like @Sarita Scherpereel said, the meetups in Houston are great to attend, network, and help educate! 

So I’m good starting off slow.

Folks tend to far underestimate the cost, and length of time, that it takes to rebuild from a disaster such as this.

I am not too far away in Charlotte and work with investors out in Asheville as well.

It is off market. 

I see a lot of unnecessary risk in investing in another country.If you still want to do it, I would start off with something on the lower end that is still nice to see how it goes for a couple of years before making a major investment out of country.I would thoroughly research all expenses such as taxes insurance, permits etc.

That will probably put enough pressure on them to back off.

I do have property way far outside of NYC, far far beyond Albany.
