The partnership (LLC) can certainly demonstrate the intent to hold for rental, but if you drop the property out of the partnership into your name you would not be able to show intent to hold and would likely have a disqualified exchange. 

I was doing deals in the second half of that period of time, but they became easier once it dropped off my reportCar loan - grrrrr.
