It's not as expensive as people think and if you can piggy-back on a tenant's wi-fi so you can view the cameras (using an app like Hikvision) that's a big bonus as well (though if you are local you can access the hard drive - it just seems like a pain - I just use the app).I have a 4-camera system that was installed at my primary residence roughly 18 months ago.

@Leah DunnellsThis is my system for keeping track of expenses and making tax time less of a pain.1)  I keep a "Temporary" folder where I put receipts for supplies, repairs, and maintenance which I have already paid but still need to document for taxes2)  Along with the temporary folder I collect any bills coming in from the utility companies3)  Every 2 weeks sit down and pay utility bills through Chase Bill Pay4)  Once bills are paid I will document both the receipts in the temporary folder (step 1) and the bills I just paid (step 3) in my spreadsheet5)  Spreadsheet is in the form of a Schedule E with all the same sections to make taxes easy at the end of the year.

I would never own investment property in these states, we should all divest holding in these states so they can feel the pain of their evil stupidity, the way to fix it is to deny them you money by a mass exodus and competing our family, friends, and business associates to shun these socialist minded states and destroy them by attrition.thank you for reading and engaging.

The downside is customer service can be a pain to reach if something does go wrong (not the dispatch people, theyre always around), but for the price, I haven't found anything competitive.For REALLY bad areas though, I'll have someone stay in the property.
