This news just sparked my interest:http://www.reuters.com/article/us-paraguay-brazil-...There are many foreign industries, mainly from Brazil, that settle in Paraguay to produce goods and later export those products to their own country.

The best ones being that in most markets they are the most in demand product for both rentals and sales, tenant quality is higher, there is more inventory of distressed property so it is easier to find one at a larger discount, and if/when I do sell it is at top dollar to a retail buyer (not an investor).

However, if things change and I am relocated in the near future, how does that affect the homestead distinction if I rent it out?

I think there is an important distinction to be made, that the people we know who were able to build wealth by investing in real estate likely did it slowly, over a long time - which doesn't let you quit your day job.

Some bridge products can get you in the 80%-range but even then it will be a stretch.

Far from it.It was a combination of borrowers using their homes for ATM's, Wall St. hedge fund managers who created mortgage  backed security products and the greed of the lenders who needed to "feed the beast."
