I'm so glad I took the leap of faith and now have a couple of rentals.

Additionally, we're looking to convert the detached garage into a one-bedroom ADU, especially since the bylaws are being amended to allow ADUs on the same lot as a single-family home.Our goal is to continue building our portfolio with multifamily properties, and I would like to aim for acquiring more than one property per year.

@Irene GustaitisCalifornia is generally more cumbersome than other states when it comes to taxes and filings.

In your case, my gut tells me just do one cash out refinance rather than a HELOC into a refinance because it will save you from paying two sets of closing costs and title fees.
