Retire on an island?

I bought my 2 barrier island Florida STRs from tired landlords, who carried back a mortgage for me at 6% interest only.  

Granted there are more factors at play but distilled down you can't increase the land supply on Hilton Head as we are an island, and the demand for location on the island remains extremely competitive.

Then there are local ordinances that require park benches and raised islands with trees and shrubs, sidewalks and other beautification requirements. 

In Rhode Island?

They are priced less per night than homes that are within a short walk... most of these homes you could walk to the beach also (the outer banks is a skinny island most places) but there is a 5 lane road that cuts the island in half so you would have to cross that, which makes driving easier especially when lugging beach supplies.   

I would very interested to hear from an investor in Arizona, Rhode Island, Hawaii, and Vermont regarding the process. 

I'm located in Rhode Island, and I found several opportunities and would like to take advantage.
