It had never been used (still had the drain pipe curled up with the paperwork inside the washer) and I'm guessing the dent took place during the first delivery.The "downside" was that Lowes would not do deliveries on these type of sales; they were strictly "pick up and haul yourself" (remember that if you're looking at one of those huge double door refrigerators) but I drive a little pickup and Lowes folks did load the washer onto my vehicle for me.Normally I just buy the new appliances (because they are ALWAYS on sale at Lowes/Home Depot and I use 10 percent off coupons I purchase through ebay to help lower the prices more) but this was quite a deal on a washer to put in one of our higher end rental houses.Gail
