But more important than what you might need to learn - is what you need to be careful not to learn.I could see you keeping a safe distance from most of the people, the attitudes and what's going on.

Make sure the discharge pipe of the sump pump moves the water a good distance away from you're crawl space; check the down spouts as well to have storm water directed away from the structure.
