HOAs aren't the best investments because fees can get very expensive, the quality of the HOA can change on a dime depending who sits on the Board, and rentals tend to have more HOA rule violations which can be a real headache if you have a couple busy bodies in the community.

Inasmuch as there is no bodily injury nor injury to outrage-protected interests in Alabama (dead bodies, the homeplace, etc.) when there is a denial of coverage, then if I had a title company and had such concerns, I'd probably come down on the side of turning down the applicant.
