Since North Jersey isn't the best place to get started for someone that has limited finances, I'm interested in starting in Eastern Pennsylvania and also Pittsburgh area.

Being south of the city look into the Eastern Mass REIA in Rockland (2nd meeting in Taunton, though I think that one is canceled this month), the South Shore REIA on the Cape and @Mike LaCava 's meetup in Plymouth.  

You actually just missed a great event as we are sitting in CHCH having been to the NZ Property Investors Federation conference where we heard Kevin Green, the UK's biggest private landlord speak.

Im going to PR San Juan Nov 14 for the housing conference. 

I have seen one seminar company using this model that I believe was legit; questions were answered personally by the “guru”, he held conference calls with all the mentored 3 time weekly, and he personally answered emails.

There are specific hotel conventions and conferences you could start getting involved in.

I'm not overly impressed with their conferences.

He manages 600+ units in Eastern Washington State, as well as getting started in the Puget Sound area.
