A smaller town may not be able to attract hotels for lodging, but single family homes have long provided viable vacation stays and that brings outside dollars into local economies.

she also stated some pay out 3800-4500 month and it's cheaper than a hotel. 

You might want to start by running some numbers on AirDNA and checking how local hotels do on Hotstats.com.

Hotel/Motel marketPCB, Great Smokies, Disney, etc...incredible vacation hot-spots and lots of opportunity for STR, but you will have significant competition and you should be careful about buying too high. 

Yeah there has been pushed back by a couple local groups same on NIMBYism that goes into a lot of these short term rental market based on the article it looks like there’s about 386 total active and pending I don’t know if this is going to get appealed or not but there are some hotels going into the area I wouldn’t be surprised if they had something to do with putting on that limit.

It is a requirement of hotels and airports etc to put in an email to access their wifi so I think people are used to it.
