I'm in the middle of a new construction project and my partner and I decided to get lots of bids for every trade, even though we have a set of reliable contractors we've used for a long time (it's good to verify your pricing every once in a while).Our HVAC bids for this project (which were apples-to-apples given it was new construction and our SOW was very straight forward) ranged from $7500 to $22,000.

Check out your local building associations and also check out town permits and see who the contractors are or ask the local building inspector if he recommends anyone.go to REIA meetings and when you give your elevator pitch ask if anyone knows a reliable contractor that is investor friendly.
