Complete some smaller deals while at the same time working on your syndication education and increasing your visibility by posting valuable content on the BP forums, attending local meetups and event, and maybe even starting your own thought leadership platform that is focused on adding value to passive investors (like a podcast or a blog).

Also, keep using BiggerPockets, there is a ton of info in here and I see many success stories come thru from those just using this platform for information!  

You can also find that a lot of crowd-funding platforms offer them, some offer it to sophisticated investors.

The difficulty will be catching it every time it pops up again - I don't know that Craigslist is particularly proactive about that kind of thing (I don't know that they'll ban accounts or anything like that - and even if they did, it's super easy to make another one).The sad fact of the matter is that fraudsters like this are common, and to the best of my knowledge the only way to fight this particular activity is to keep an eye on Craigslist and flag listings when they appear.You may also consider writing up a BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY post to post in the VR section of CL, and explain what happened and that people should use extreme caution when booking direct via Craigslist - they should only go through booking platforms like AirBNB/VRBO to protect themselves.  

That being said, if you're interested in what it takes to be a great host it's truly a wonderful platform.

A tech savvy person could make a killing by making a quality accounting platform that tracks Income/Expenses and automatically uploads your property managers statements.

I can't remember who the speaker was or what platform I heard it, but I vaguely remember hearing an investor discuss his strategy of buying large SFR and renting each room to a student.
