Hi all, I have a beginner question:I am looking into opening a HELOC and thought that this was different than refinancing.When I look at this credit union's site, I can't make sense of which they offer, or if they are the same thing.https://join.unitusccu.com/home-mortgage-refinanceI don't want to refinance my current mortgage. 

Remodeling a single family home to pull a cash out refi or heloc, I’m curious on if it’s worth it to finish the garage  and how much the appraisal will go up if I finish it, finishing the garage will delay getting an appraisal done for a few weeks.

Some credit unions will do HELOCs on non-primaries.

And then turn around and do a HELOC after for the remaining 10% of the property.

One owner was in a nursing home for over 10 years, the place noticeably decayed and scammers managed to get a $200K HELOC on it, cashed out and skipped town.

I have heard about doing a HELOC but haven't really understood how that works or what steps I'll need to take.

I had equity, so I was able to pull out a $35K HELOC loan agaist it, which gave me the cash to take on my first true flip property (2534 Fillmore Street NE in my investments).
