Not sure what data the trulia crime map is based on but there are other websites that provide detailed crime statistics of a given area. city-data is one of them.

@Jeff Oberts deposits belong to the tenant anf should be transferred to the new owner. that being said, if it is not in your purchase contract there is likely no recourse. in the future this should be apart of any future written offers, along with prorated rent payments, which i am guessing you did not ask for as well. check your contract. but if its not in the contract, you still have to reimburse tenant when they leave

Then consult with an attorney and see if there are any options to go after the people who scammed him.Yeah...I don't see that happening. and no, the "new owners" are the bank and even if the foreclosure didn't go through, no way in hell would the bank do a short sale with someone that the property was transferred to.
