To build A house, pretty much, get a good GC and you can learn.Developments, streets, buildings, subdividing......work for a local developer, no book can teach the political and local government issues you will encounter which can mean seeing green or red, learn from those that do it. :)

@Samson KayBeing MAD Cheap doesn't mean its a deal.I have no doubt there will be amazing deals in Detroit, but without local real estate wisdom on your team, you might as well put your money on red 34.

That became my big cash cow, from '78 to '01, when I did a 1031 exchange for 3 places in the Highland Lakes region of Texas.A couple of moves later I had two rentals in Houston that (barely) cash flowed, but we had red hot housing inflation.

Even though they signed addenda that state AS IS WHERE IS, you might be surprised what people get away with.I don’t suspect foul play, unless the agent is dumb as rocks (further comment withheld ïŠ) and likes to play with fire.
