Germany, being the privacy oriented country it is, likely has some laws/regulations regarding direct mail.

Are you going to be a buy-hold, cashflow oriented investor, are you going to be a fix-flip investor, etc.From there you can start narrowing in on your target areas and working with the property owners and brokers who specialize in that area. 

I believe there are huge developments in this style in California.

They'll need a few basic details on the structure, i.e. age, condition, building style (timber/brick), location etc.This should furnish you with enough information to know whether the deal could possibly work.Keep a record of all this information, and I would start building a database of what the cost is for each task/trade per sq ft.

Your goal is to match apples to apples (i.e. sq footage, #BR/BAs, amenities, style, etc) as closely as possible.

@Thayne Parkinson A real estate transaction is the same here as it is on the moon...minus the no oxygen part...transactions are process oriented by design.
