Simple scenario and question:I'm purchasing a duplex with a VA Home Loan for $270K.Down the road I'd like to do the same thing.A normal VA Loan Maximum is $417K but changes to approx. $533K with a duplex:http://www.fhfa.gov/DataTools/Downloads/Pages/Conforming-Loan-Limits.aspxWhen I buy another home can I subtract the $533K from $270K leaving me with $263K to purchase another property?

It's that simple.

Its a fairly simple process if your contractor knows what hes doing and has done 203k loans in the past. 

., and yes you have legal recourse to mitigate these issues but that doesn't necessarily mean the financial means will be available to cure whatever the issues are that may arise.My suggestion would be to seriously consider an acquisition of this magnitude where you acquire fee simple title.
