If a special use type place goes dark you tend to have to land the same type of tenant or expend extraordinary amounts of money to re-purpose.I pay about 50 bucks a month for a Mr.

If the device can be dual-managed, that could be confusing on who is supposed to do what, and you get into privacy gray areas with landlord/tenant laws.Hypothetically, you don't want to be liable for identify theft of a tenant because you failed to apply security patches or because you didn't train the tenant in how to manage the device.I do use smart smoke detectors in my home & rentals, but it's because they are less likely to have nuisance alarms.

In my STR I only have 3 smart switches one to turn on the garage and front door lights on at dusk and off at sunrise so the guests never arrive to a dark front entrance.
