So you have a loaded field of players with very large chances stacked against them.If I take 100 people with $20,000 in capital who want to start investing in real estate I'm guess the ratio is going to be higher than 5%.

Portland is a good investor market with a lot of players, but she has to want to learn.

35 years ago I read some advice about staying in a resort or hotel. 

I assume it's institutional. 3% initial low-risk returns with increases could make sense if you're a bigger player with money to park.

I have lived in MI for 36 years - i haven't heard of those cities but maybe..... if they are near a ski resort for winter that is the best and i am not sure there is much skiing in the UP -  closer to Traverse City and anything on a lake will be a huge benefit.  

If you like living on a resort, there are Ramada suites available for just under USD $60K or less, but it is an hour away from Bangkok on Jomtien.
