For many it does not work (my partner and me might end up as part of that bucket someday, that is yet to be determined), but there are always exceptions to every "rule" (or popular opinion).  

The market is ripe for a company such as yours that offers good prices AND customer service.

Call a title company, talk to a title rep and ask what marketing and other services they have for customers.  

It's neutral, popular, would match the roof, and wouldn't seem like a duplicate home to the next house over.

Contractors front the money for work, labor, and supply costs and expect a profit for the service and safety they ensure.That said, there are absolutely contractors out there that will take advantage of customers that do not understand what they want or how much it generally costs.

They don't seem to be very popular here though.

In our area vinyl wood planks are really popular for rentals. 

If it is a good contractor, then he will understand that you could be a repeat customer and it is natural for you to be guarded doing this out of state.  

Don't know if they will adapt to custom front yet.
