All it takes is a thief posing as a tenant to see the house is vacant and where the pipes are.After the first, and hopefully last time that happened, we installed an alarm system and if either of them are vacant again, we'll board up most windows and the back door and install an alarm.

You can also buy insulated, double pane glass and install it yourself...I recently had broken double-pane window break and ordered a new pane from fabglass.
