Have you used your owner occupant loan on a house yet, and if not I would try to find somewhere to house hack.

We just bought a lakefront house there in March and its been booked every single weekend since then.

We're considering the following options:1) Purchasing a single family/duplex and renting it out, continuing to live in and house hack our current house and building equity slowly.2) Purchasing a duplex, rent out one side and live in the other, rent out current house.

Hi All, We recently purchased a duplex we're planning on house hacking-- we're going to live in one unit and rent out the other. 

I was just wondering if the local housing authority paid for repairs, and then the tenant would have to repay the housing authority

If we just put a lien or a deed of trust on the house. for example, a 300k house, 50k renovation.

For perspective, the house directly next to this house is estimated at over $900k fully updated with slightly higher square footage, but 1 less bedroom.
