I can buy a property in the aria that I will be moving to before we move, and be an out of state landlord for a few months until we move, or I can wait until we move to find a property.I would appreciate any thoughts and opinions that any of you have that would help me make this choice.

Let me just say the following (of course this is my opinion only)When I saw you are 17 and your profile states "I have had a fantasy of driving nice cars and traveling..." to me, the right choice for you is to GOTO COLLEGE:- I don't think you are mature enough at this point to truly understand financial management and wealth- I don't think at 17, you can truly know whether RE is your passion. - Understand the concept of "Illusory superiority", whereby individuals overestimate their own abilities relative to others.

It's just over a mile from the W Oakland BART station and I can say from experience that it's close enough to walk if you have no other choice, but a mile is too far to do every day for your commute.
