In what part of the area are you looking to stay short term while you shop for a new home? 

I do have another place to stay if I do choose to sell.

the cons of this building is that it has tenants that are smoky and stayed there for long time, some of them are paying through government assistance which I really don't know if this would be a bad idea or what, the unit that might fit our growing family as we are now three and expecting a baby soon!

In this scenario it's looking more likely that we should stay away from equity appreciation assuming the high risk.

I would rather have people stay and not have vacancies.

Again, stay low in numbers and observe.

Last week I closed on a two family house that I purchased directly from the owner, she gave me a good deal with the condition that she would stay in the first floor apartment and pay a reduce rent.  

Is it a good move or would it hurt down the road if we decide to buy a home ( which we are planning to but still couple years or so ) The reason we are not buying right now is i would like a decent home and then stay in that forever and at this point i guess i am just not ready to buy my own.thank you

I wasn't willing to settle for a turn-key property.Originally I thought about flipping it, but the area is perfect for me I decided to stay.

We do have a place to stay at while we rehab the "meth" unit.
