Our lease with our current rental property that we stayed in for 3 years was up on 24-Jun,18.

The tenant is a lady who has lived in the property for 25+ years, happy where she is and will probably stay there until she moves on to the next world. 

If the furnace breaks during the winter and she needs to stay with family for a week that's a different story.

I would like to get it renovated and stay for 3 or four more years.

If they want to stay they and pay me a fair price that's fine, if not it gives them a cushion to leave.

@Kurt BraunerI would suggest a longer stay if you really want to get a feel for the area and also meet people.

My beautiful grandma allowing me and my girlfriend to stay with her rent free till we were able to support our selves and Asking friends and family for small loans to get by every week to support my little future family paying them back with recycling money and any labor work i could do Or help out with. 

Loan stays in your name.If you can make the higher rates work you can do 30 year fixed at 7-7.5 percent interest from some of those national portfolio lenders like corvest finance.

Your travel expense stays lower that way.
