So today there was a property we live (very) close to that appears the tenants almost burned down tonight (fire dept, smoke, police etc) and we've also seen police come out for an overdose.

My father worked for the federal government for 40-plus years and, thank God, he has a decent pension, but it’s basically exactly what he needs for living expenses and the modest things he likes to spend money on, like buying books, traveling to visit his grandchildren and buying them presents.

Many are sales folks or IT/Consultant type folks that work out of their homes, travel quite a bit, and live here because Denver is a good hub to fly out of.  

Some corporations create their own lists, so if there's a business or industry near you who has this need, one could reach out to them and offer housing for their workers.My sister worked as a traveling nurse and was offered a housing stipend that she could use to find lodging at extended stay hotels or in the private rental market.

Real Estate has afforded me to travel all over the world, provide for my loved ones, and my son can attend any college that he can get into.

I wouldn't recommend allowing smoking because smoke damage makes for a much harder turnover for the next tenant.

This is usually called travel hacking. 

., I seriously doubt they are going to get my written approval to modify the residence or honor my pet or smoking policy.

It's really just a smoke screen to decrease density.
