If the employer didn't have WC insurance, I could imagine lawsuits and lots of ugly state WC stuff happening, and your friend may or may not get paid.  

@Ellis San Jose  I can imagine the trouble that you're talking about in a multi family and I do worry about burdening myself but I'm certainly looking at property management because I'm interested in investing.I'm not so afraid of oversight work because this is a business and I can't run from these kinds of things.  

Of course Nebraska, and California are pretty much night and day difference as far as investing goes I imagine
